'The Bloodline Birth of the Vampir' is a dark tale of innocence lost and monstrosity born. Set in 13th century Europe, the book chronicles the fall of a Transylvanian Lord and his people at the hands of a ruthless Archdeacon in search of the Holy Grail.
Cursed and exiled from their land, the former citizens of Erdely soon find themselves in the grips of a transformation, becoming something the world has never seen before--the first vampires.

Shaun McGinnis and Rod Garcia have crafted the finest of origin stories, setting the stage for a series of epic proportions.

The Bloodline Birth of the Vampir Rod Garcia Shaun McGinnis 9780615866161 Books

This book was very well written and edited, story flowed and characters came to life. Very interesting and unique take on the begining of the vampire mythos and good explanation of why they are based in Christian folklore.

The only real negatives were that some parts I think were left unexplored and could have added greatly to the overall story. The acquisition of the lord of a certain "chalice" would have been a great area of exploration, and how a certain Papal authority was able to use God to curse people, even though he was without a doubt, evil, just made no sense. I don't know of a god that would allow his power to be used by evil to create evil, perhaps there was some type of dichotomy or conflict going on that was to be assumed or that will be covered in further novels?

It's hard to ask these questions without giving away spoilers but they were glaring, in my opinion, and took away from the book.

The ending, though not a cliffhanger, did end abrubtly and left room for much further exploration of other novels.

Overall a good read and one I would like to see continue.

The Bloodline Birth of the Vampir Rod Garcia Shaun McGinnis 9780615866161 Books Reviews

Unlike other reviews here I do prefer vampire/supernatural types of books and seek them out. I was so over joyed to come across a well written, insiteful very plausible introduction to what has become mankind's greatest fear and secret desire a realistic view of the beginning of the vampire/vampir legend. Reading vampire books and watching vampire related shows of late has become predictable and quite silly but that is all that has been out there.Bloodline is a breath of fresh air to the same old same old vampire story. Love these new authors and cant wait to read more of Ivan! Glittery vampires beware there is a new Vampir in town !!!!
This book is a fantastic read. It takes a new approach to the birth of the vampire. Mixing in Grail lore, the Templars, and rural life in the Carpathians, this book weaves a splendid tale that I could not put down. I cannot wait for more books in this series, the authors have crafted a finely woven tale that leaves the reader thirsting for more.
Anyone who enjoys deep historical content will relish this book from start to finish.

I have actually dabbled in research about Knights Templar in the past because of certain passages that I have read in many books focusing on the elusive beginnings of the Vampire.

Shaun's book, The Bloodline Birth of the Vampir is a wonderfully written account, so steeped in history, which is exactly how I like the books that I read to be written.

Can power and greed ultimately corrupt a man, not just any man but one who has given his life to the service of the Church and God? .... and do those who seek retribution for the unspeakable evil befall the same fate?
What a great book! A must read! The story put anew twist on the vampir! I truly hope that there s more to this story! I will continue took look for more stories from these authors!! Go Ivan!!Not a dull moment! kept you at the edge of your seat what was going to happen next!!
I had to limit myself to 1 chapter per night So I could make the story last longer. Many times I missed and did a couple chapters or more. I was kept riveted to the story. It has been a long time since I have been caught up so completely. I would recommend this book to anyone who would stand still and listen. I would recommend this to someone who wouldn't stand and listen. I have never written a review so I hope this is OK.
One of the best vampire books I have read, it is non stop action and I finished it in one setting. An interesting take in mixing the Templar Knights against the vampires and seeing a different approach to how vampires were started. Now hurry up and write another big book. If I could give it ten stars I would. Outstanding
I found this book to be a marvelous read and having an intriguing storyline. It has a well paced story, and I was kept reading just to find out what would happen next. The authors have done a wonderful job of fleshing out the characters and making their problems very pronounced and real. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book.
I would highly recommend this book to all vampire fans and readers of the paranormal.
