“What’s a header?”

Fifteen years ago, Travis Clyde Tuckton asked that self-same question to his ancient grandfather, and the answer came in a rampage of twisted bloodlust, missing persons, and the most macabre and indescribable act of vengeance that human consciousness has ever devised…

Now, in those same desolate woods, amongst dilapidated shacks behind whose rickety doors no one dare look, something even worse has come to curse the land of simple folk, a jubilee of murderous perversity and sexual abomination too hideous to describe. Only the courage of Travis Tuckton could ever begin to set things back to rights but, lo, Travis and his grandfather are long dead…

Ah, but their relatives aren’t! And it will be these stout-hearted men who shall rise to the occasion of the most horrific revenge in the history of the backwoods—an eye for an eye, a head for a head! Not even unearthed graves, molested corpses, abducted tots, and an unspeakable human monstrosity can thwart the might of right. Join steadfast hayseeds Helton, Dumar, and Micky-Mack as they venture forth into a wretched mire of unadulterated horror, where the symbol of ultimate evil is not a psycho-killer, nor a demon, but the full-tilt rev of power tools screaming through the endless night…

HEADER 2

Where revenge is all in the mind.

Header 2 edition by Edward Lee Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks

I've got somewhat limited experience with Ed Lee's work, having only read The Bighead, Creekers, The Pig, and The House so far, but Header 2 is on a whole different level from those books. The story is pretty simple and straightforward, and there aren't any pacing errors or segments that drag on or feel repetitive. The characterization and prose are much improved from his older works, which is to the book's gread advantage. Also, the focus on comedy rarely lets up, and Header 2 doesn't suffer from the sensation that it's being pulled in too many directions. The trademark Lee depravity is here in full force, but is integrated well into the plot and I never got the feeling while reading it that he had added in a violent or sexual scene just for the sake of excess. Plus the frustrating use of diabolus ex machina in The Bighead and Creekers which left the endings of both books being weak is nowhere to be found here. Not to say that the ending is particularly realistic, but it fits in with the story as a whole and Header 2 ends on a strong note rather than leaving a bitter taste in the mouth at the climax.

It's hard to describe something so nauseatingly violent as madcap, but if you can handle the splatter (and why the hell would you pick up an Ed Lee book if you're the squeamish type? There's plenty of Mitch Albom on Amazon to keep you all warm and fuzzified) Header 2 is extremely funny. After the introductions of all the major players, I spent pretty much the entire rest of the book smiling and occasionally chuckling aloud. It's pure unadulterated sick fun, and an excellent introduction to the author if you've never read any of his work before. Despite being a sequel, there's nothing that you'll find confusing due to not having read the original, and if it didn't have a '2' in the title you would never know it was part of a series. I can't recommend this one enough to gorehounds, and it's turned me from someone who thought of Lee as a guilty pleasure to change things up in my reading list every once in a while into a fan who's eagerly awaiting his next book.

Header 2 edition by Edward Lee Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks Reviews

This book is worse then the first one. I didn't think it could get any worse but I was wrong. It gets much worse. Much worse indeed.
This book takes it to a whole new level. The first book introduced us to headers and now this one expands our horizons so to speak. Just goes to show that good old red neck ingenuity can even teach pros a few new tricks.
Wow!!!Edward Lee is amazing! Another violent, shocking and disturbing story from the best author out there! Some truly gross stuff in this one but also a truly awesome revenge yarn. Backwood hillbillies vs. some twisted mob dudes! When you think Lee can't top a scene of pure depravity he kicks it up a few notches in the next chapter! Not for the easily grossed out. Some of these details will be hard to forget and you will NEVER forget exactly what a header is! Heeheehee. Cant recommend this or any of Lee's books enough
This is Edward Lee at his best. The characters are well written and fleshed out; the sick, dark humor has you laughing out loud at least once per page; and the perversion and violence are so over the top, written in ways only Mr.Lee could pull off. It has kind of a Hatfields and McCoys story line that I wont give away, except to say the good guys(are they good?) and bad guys(how bad are they?) keep one upping each other in their acts of retribution towards each other. Funny, gross, and ultimately VERY fun to read, if you like your humor pitch black, and love to be grossed out this is one novel you can't miss.
This is, hands down, the most enjoyable novel I have ever read! Horrifying, disgusting, repulsive and absolutely side-splitting! I could not put this book down and read it in one sitting. There was not one boring or drollsome page in the entire book!
The characters get under your skin completely. You will love them, hate them, cheer for them and want to kill them. I have NEVER taken a literary ride quite like this one! I can not recommended this book enough!
Mr. Edward Lee, you are twisted and demented - marry me!!!!
This book was a hoot! I don't get the negative reviews, but for me, this was one of the funniest things I've read in a while. All these whacked out back woodsmen and mobsters killing each other and their families in horrific ways, and yet they're really likeable in an odd way. I loved the mafia dragging along their own Doctor. That and his very clinical remarks were hysterical. I wasn't a huge fan of the first Header book. I liked it, but it was no big deal, but I hope there's going to be a Header #3. Oh yeah, by the way, I loved the ending! Yep, I'd recommend this story and author.
Okay, this was sick and gross stuff. I love Edward Lee books. I swear, Helton, Dumar and Micky-mack were the funniest rednecks i've ever heard speak. The only book that grossed me out and had me laughing out loud when reading interactions within Helton's clan. I swear, if Edward Lee was to write a thousand page book with or without the gore and it was about the adventures of those guys, I'll b the first to buy..you know,..one 'a them doohickies that folks "cipher" words out of that form stories....all on account of "cipherin" letters. Edward, if yer readin this, yuns orta know I'se from the state 'er Georgie an I reckon I feel mighty partial to Helton's clan but them header thangs sound like they'se come from a mind that ain't mendin' proper)
